Dear Boys #14

Dear Captain,
Let's face it- I haven't seen/talked to you in a year and a half.
But...you deserve better than her.
You are starting to worry me.
Love, Mother
(Yes, my children, I still worry about all of you.
Even if you are married or big strong military men,
I still worry about each one of you.
It's my job as mother.)

Dear Elder,
I hope you had a fantastic birthday.
I am so proud of you and we all love the picture!
Love, Big Sis

Dear Provo,
I still kind of hate you.
But for the first time in almost three years,
I am actually starting to enjoy life here.
Hmm...
Love, Jess
PS- This does NOT mean I want to stay here forever.

Dear Sis,
You did it!! You made it!!
On to bigger and better things!
I am so proud of you and excited for all the fun you will have at USU!
Love, Big Sis

Dear Cowboy,
Enjoy the pizza.
Love, Jess

Dear Dr. Seuss,
I will share Starbursts with you any time.
Especially because you let me have the pink ones.
Love, Jess

Dear Middle-Man,
It's ok to be done.
I've got your back.
Love, Hitch

Dear Boys,
Come back into my life soon.
October just can't come fast enough.
Love, Your biggest fan

Wednesday Wonderfuls #2

It's a busy week!! Best Wednesday Wonderful I could have...after today, only 4 days and 3 hours left of school!!

This picture is a week and a half old, but I had to share. We played with flour at FHE last week. This was the result. You may call it childish, but I call it fun!

Friday night at like 7:30pm I decided it would be a good idea to deep clean my closet. I will blame exhaustion for that choice. By 10:00 my living room looked like that...and I gave up and went to bed. But!!

By Saturday night, my closet looked like this! My apartment is great, but has limited storage other than this closet so I have to make the best use of the space.

This Monday for FHE, we went to a free blue-grass concert. It was amazing!! I loved it.

We got news that Marcus is safe and sound after having a tornado touch down just south of his area. It was actually in his zone, but no missionaries were hurt.

I am not a fan of Grey's Anatomy at all, but I love this quote. I was talking to my best friend last night on the phone and like usual, she was being all logical while I rambled on about my date-I am-not-sure-is-really-a-date this weekend. I am so glad that being 2 hours away from each other for 3 years now hasn't lessened our ability to communicate with each other in ways that truly only make sense to us. (We've only known each other for 4 years, so that is kind of an amazing statistic.)

My ward has started having weekly ballroom dance lessons (waltz, foxtrot, and cha-cha so far) and OH MY WORD! Love it. This is something I have always wanted to learn, but have never had time for. It is taught by some people in my ward and sometimes we struggle to get guys to show up, but I can finally start crossing if off my bucket list. (I can't fully cross it out because I don't think I know it well enough.) I don't have pictures, but it is still wonderful!

The Power of Prayer

I am so thankful for the blessing and opportunity each one of us has to communicate with our Father in Heaven whenever we need it. Not only can we pray to ask for blessings or comfort, we pray to show gratitude. Prayers don't have to be long winded, or perfectly orated. We speak from the heart and He knows.

This is the story of "R." He has many struggles when it comes to academics, but he works hard and tries his best. The other teacher and I were both worried that he wouldn't pass his end of year tests. He is what we call a "bubble" student...you just don't know how he is going to do.

Tuesday R came running into my room to tell me his scores on the tests (not knowing I had already seen them.) He passed all three, two with flying colors. He was beyond excited. Then he made a statement that made me tear up. "Miss Jensen, I knew I would do good!! I did everything right. I went to sleep early. I ate a good breakfast. I was to school on time. I even took my math packet home to study! But, that's not why I knew I would do good. I prayed every night that I would be able to do my best."

He gets it. What a beautiful example and reminder of the Power of Prayer.

Dear Boys #13

Lucky #13!!

Let's start it off with a Wednesday Wonderful!! (I like combing these two things!)

The last day of school is the 30th and it is only like 3 hours long. Not counting weekends or Memorial Day, I only have 10 days and 3 hours left in the school year!!!!

Ok, now Bring on the Men!!

Dear Middle Man,
Thanks for being my Date Doctor.
I firmly believe everyone should have someone like you in their life.
Love, Hitch

Dear Dr. Seuss,
I really am trying not to flirt too much since I have given up on the whole "date" thing...but somehow you end up sucking me in every time.
Stop that.
Love, Jess

Dear Cowboy,
I never thought I would Dear Boys you again, but the more I think about the text you sent over the weekend, the more it hurts.
I am starting to regret this "staying friends" thing.
I am not sure how much longer it will last.
Love, Jess

Dear Mr. Perfect,
Please know its not too late to call.
Call any time.
Seriously.
Love, Jess

Dear Dr. O,
Thanks for backing me up yesterday.
I keep waiting for you to throw me under the bus like the rest of them,
but you've had my back so far.
I appreciate it.
Love, Miss Jensen

Dear All Single Boys (and Girls) Everywhere,
I don't understand this fear of commitment.
Someone please explain it to me.
Love, One confused girl

Happy Mother's Day!

I almost didn't make this post in time! Busy day!!

The video I really wanted to share today, I can't find. If you got the chance to see it, lucky you. KSL did a commercial today for mom's. Not only was it adorable, but a tear-jerker as well. If I find it I will add it in.

So instead, a little Kid President on this Mother's Day :)
Parts of this are SO my mom. We have laughed about this all weekend.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!!

Dear Boys vs Wednesday Wonderfuls #1

Dear Boys,
I am kind of burnt out right now. But some shepherds pie sounds good...
Love, Jess

I need a break from Dear Boys. I just have nothing to say to all of you today. So, in its place...my cute, wonderful friend Alyssa (check her out at See This Girl Run) does a "Wednesday Wonderfuls" post that I thought I would jump in with.

Life has been kind of rough lately. (Ok, work has been really rough lately.) It was nice to focus on the good to put this post together.

Bought my ticket for the Chris Cagle concert last week. This may not seem like a big deal, but it means school will be out and summer will have started! Yay for summer concerts!

Test scores are in for Language Arts and Science. Over all they did really well. Several of my students did much better than I expected them to, which is always a nice surprise.

Sunday is Mother's Day! Not only do I get to go home and spend it with my wonderful mom, but I get to talk to my brother!

Friday, I got to spend the night with people from my ward helping out at a wedding. Not only was it a great chance to provide service, but it was so much fun!!

The Hope of God's Light

I had to teach Relief Society today. (Which is not my favorite thing in the world by the way.) I started about 4 different lessons then finally gave up and called the Bishop for help. He recommended I use President Uchtdorf's talk from this past April Conference, The Hope of God's Light

BINGO! I think this lesson was more for me than anyone else.

My favorite quote from this talk was:

"Spiritual light rarely comes to those who merely sit in darkness waiting for someone to flip a switch. It takes an act of faith to ope our eyes to the Light of Christ. Spiritual light cannot be discerned by carnal eyes...So how do we open our eyes to the hope of God's light?

First, start where you are...Second, turn your heart toward the Lord...Third, walk in the light."

Dear Boys #12

Dear Dr. Seuss,
You have definitely been "flirt-buddy" zoned.
Love, Jess

Dear Middle-Man,
Remember, you go 90...make her go 10.
Love, Hitch

Dear Temple Man,
I was really tempted to sit around and wait until you were done baptizing. Then I decided that would make me a super creeper... so I didn't.
Love, Jess

Dear All Single Men Everywhere,
Love, Your potential date
